The Results Of Our Skin-checking Partnership, 12 Months On.
Just over a year ago, we partnered with SkinVision to give every single one of our customers free skin checks. SkinVision is an app that uses artificial intelligence to compare skin spots and moles against millions of images of known skin cancers. The app gives an immediate risk score to help detect problem areas at an early stage and advises if you should seek professional help.
Protection and detection
The reason this partnership is so important is because we believe DETECTION is just as important as PROTECTION when it comes to your long-term skin health.
We're obviously in the game of protecting your skin every single day through our high performance range of products. But in order to provide truly holistic skin protection, it's extremely important to check your skin regularly and we absolutely love this tool. We also love the fact that no other skin protection brand offers such comprehensive healthcare.
So, after 12 months of having access to the app, we thought we'd dig into the data to see how it's being used by all of you and if it's proving to be effective.
Highlights: highs and lows
In the past 12 months, you've carried out just over 2,000 skin checks.
Being honest, the uptake and number of people who've tried the tool has underwhelmed us, especially given it's free. But we won't give up shouting about it and, over time, we'd love to see more users, doing more checks.
Of those people who registered and tried the app, 65% went on to become active users. Knowing very little about apps, this feels like a high conversion rate to us and emphasises what a good tool it is.
40% of users were under 30 years old and 60% were 30 or older.
Unsurprisingly, 67% of users were men.
Out of the 2,000 checks, about 70% were deemed to be low risk, 7% were medium risk and 21% were high risk. Importantly, 131 of the high risk checks recommended visiting a doctor.
And one of those cases was a validated melanoma.
We know who that person was and they're extremely grateful for the app and the service. That's exactly why we want to try and get it into more widespread use.
