Pro surfer, Harry Timson, tells us what’s in his bag
Want to know the kit a pro surfer can’t live without?
We asked one of the UK’s top surfers, Harry Timson, to tell us the things he swears by.
Harry’s based in Cornwall and can often be seen jumping out of the waves down at Fistral Beach but he obviously travels the world, looking for the best swell he can find. Whether he’s carving in Cornwall or punting in Portugal, here are Harry’s top 5 kitbag essentials.
1. Fu Wax
“This stuff is incredible, best in the world, and also incredibly hard to get your hands on. It’s made in Brazil, but I get mine from the Boardshop guys down here in Newquay, I shouldn’t really tell you that, haha! It’s super long-lasting, isn’t sticky like others and doesn’t get your wetsuit all grimy.”
A surf essential.
2. Reef Flip Flops
“I can live in flip flops all year round, even down here in Cornwall when it gets Baltic! Reef, for me, are the ultimate in beach footwear; super comfy and obviously quick drying. They even have a bottle opener in the sole so opening post surf beers are never a problem!”
3. Volcom fleece
“Volcom are my sponsor. I’ve been with them for 14 years. They’re such an amazing bunch, so chilled out and they kit me out all year round. Their clothing is hands down the best out there. It not only looks great but it lasts ages and is designed for people who are in and out of the water. I’ve just got this fleece and it’s all I need to warm up post surf.”
4. Nixon Base Tide Pro Watch
“This Nixon Base Tide Pro watch is next level. I can get all the surf forecast and tide information from my wrist. It’s amazing how they’ve managed to create such awesome tech that also looks great too. I never take mine off, and it’s perfect for when I’m in the water too as it’s so tough.”
5. Hydro Water Flask
“I’ve always got one of these filled up in my bag. I get really dehydrated if I’m surfing all day and sometimes we’ll surf where there isn’t a place to buy water nearby, so a couple of Hydro Flasks filled up are essential for me. They also keep my water cold which is a bonus in summer. We do get some hot days down here!!”
