Will the UPF protection wash out over time?

No. The protection is built into the jacquard weave itself, not applied as a chemical treatment. It physically blocks UV through the construction of the fabric. It can't degrade, wash out, or wear off. The same 98% UV block after 100 washes as after the first.
Does the hood stay on during activity?

Yes. The hood is sewn into the garment. It's not a separate hat or a snap-on addition. It moves with you and stays put in wind, on the water, and at pace. That's the point of it.
Do I still need sunscreen if I'm wearing this?
