Lips don't produce sebum, which means they lack the natural oils that keep the rest of your skin hydrated. They dry out fast, crack easily, and burn before you notice. Most lip balms moisturise but offer no UV protection. Most SPF lip sticks protect but feel thick, waxy, and taste like chemicals. We built a lip balm that does both jobs properly. SPF 50+ and UVA 5-star protection in a formula that actually feels good to wear. Moisturising, comfortable, no weird aftertaste. WHAT'S IN IT AND WHY?

UV Filter System — Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (Tinosorb S) and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone) provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
Tinosorb S is photostable and helps stabilise Avobenzone, preventing degradation in sunlight.
Ethylhexyl Salicylate (Octisalate) boosts UVB absorption and improves spreadability.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) — Rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, E, and F. Provides deep moisturisation, supports skin barrier repair, and has natural anti-inflammatory properties to soothe cracked or irritated lips.
Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2 — A vegan alternative to lanolin. Forms a breathable occlusive barrier that locks in moisture without blocking pores. Non-comedogenic.
Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba Wax) — Plant-derived wax that provides structure and long-lasting wear. Helps the formula adhere to lips without feeling heavy or sticky.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — Antioxidant that protects lip tissue from oxidative stress caused by UV exposure and environmental damage. Supports healing of dry, damaged skin.

I previously used two different products, a moisturising lip balm and, occasionally, a lip balm with SPF. I only used the SPF one occasionally as it wasn't a great lip balm and had a slightly weird aftertaste. Having trialled the LifeJacket lip protector over a few days and weather conditions, it just works really well. Over a few 50+ mile cycles I have encountered temperatures from 2C to 18C and everything from rain to sun. My lips have stayed in great shape. It's not greasy, goes on easily, quickly absorbed and keeps my lips in great shape.

Lip protector
