What are clothes for UV protection?

Clothes for UV protection are garments designed to block or absorb harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun, reducing your risk of sunburn and skin damage. Fabrics can be tested for the amount of UV they can block. This gives them an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF), similar to SPF ratings for sunscreens. A standard white cotton t-shirt is the equivalent of SPF 5 so offers little protection from UV. The weave of the yarn and the yarn itself both play a role in preventing UV light from reaching your skin. What does UPF mean in clothing?

UPF, or Ultraviolet Protection Factor, in clothes refers to the garment's ability to block out harmful UVA and UVB rays. The higher the UPF, the greater protection the fabric provides. The maximum rating for fabrics is UPF 50+ and this means that less than 2% (1/50th) of UV light can pass through it. Can I replace sunscreen entirely with UPF clothing?

UPF clothing offers excellent protection for the areas it covers, but sunscreen is still important for exposed areas like your face, hands and neck. For full protection, we recommend combining your clothing with targeted skincare like the Daily Protection Set or SPF 50+ Sun Protection Spray.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to the UK and Channel Islands using a Royal Mail tracked service and internationally using a selection of couriers (DPD, UPS, Fedex).

When will I get my order?

We try to get every order out the same day up until 4pm during the week. From then, please allow 2-3 business days for your order to arrive (UK) or up to 14 working days for international orders.

Who will be delivering my order and is there tracking?

We use a tracked service for nearly all of our deliveries. You will get an email from us when your order has been despatched which will include the tracking details.

What if I'm not in when my order is delivered?

The majority of our products fit through the average letter box. In the event your order doesn't, the courier will leave a card letting you know they tried to deliver and what the next step is (either your order was left in a safe place or it has been returned to your local sorting office where it can either be collected, or a redelivery booked).
