Arms covered. Ears, scalp and neck? That's where most people end the day burned.

When the sun gets serious, your head's on its own.

Halfway through a hike, a few hours into a day on the bank, peak UV on an open hillside? That's when you want your head covered. Most sun clothing stops at the collar. A separate hat is another thing to carry, remember, or leave behind. So the scalp, ears, and neck just take it.

Even with sunscreen, you still have to keep applying it.

Before you head out, mid-morning, after lunch. Miss a window and the protection drops. On a long day moving or in the garden, hiking, fishing or on the water. Keeping that routine consistent is harder than it sounds. Most people don't manage it. And yes, we said it: some people just don't like sunscreen.

Most UPF clothing has a time limit.

The majority of UPF clothing gets its rating from a chemical treatment applied to standard fabric. After around 20 washes, that treatment is gone. You're wearing a regular top and not knowing it.

Relaxed fit. That's the point.

Cut exactly like the UPF50+ Long Sleeve Active Tee, this hooded top has a dropped shoulder and a wide body. It's intentionally loose so it flows as you move rather than pulling tight. Unisex, it works well on most body shapes in this relaxed silhouette. If you prefer a closer fit, size down. It'll still have some room to it. Not sure on size? Protection's built in. Our UPF 50+ fabrics block 98% of UV through structure, not chemicals. The weave does the work so protection doesn't wash out, wear off, or fade over time.

No. The protection is built into the jacquard weave itself, not applied as a chemical treatment. It physically blocks UV through the construction of the fabric. It can't degrade, wash out, or wear off. The same 98% UV block after 100 washes as after the first.

Does the hood stay on during activity?

Yes. The hood is sewn into the garment. It's not a separate hat or a snap-on addition. It moves with you and stays put in wind, on the water, and at pace. That's the point of it.

Do I still need sunscreen if I'm wearing this?

For covered areas, no. The UPF 50+ fabric handles 98%+ of UV on your arms, shoulders, neck, and scalp. For exposed areas: your face, hands, and any skin the garment doesn't cover: you'll still want SPF applied and reapplied as normal.

Is it suitable for water sports? Does it dry quickly?

Yes, and it dries quickly. It's built specifically for watersports. This hoodie is an active top: lightweight, quick-drying when wet, but designed to be worn on the water rather than in it.

Can I wear it as a mid-layer in cooler conditions?

Amazing top! Keeps me cool and keeps out the sun!
This is an essential part of my kit as I love running in the sunshine but don't want to overheat or get sunburnt. This top fits really nicely and the first time I wore it I proved accidentally that it really works. When I finished my run my Strava told me I had a great "indoor run" - I never run indoors so to do that on my watch I would have needed to press about five different buttons. It took me a while to realise what had happened but basically because my watch was under my sleeve the top blocked out the sun and the GPS. I was very very impressed! It also keeps you nice and cool.
