    Good Quality and value

    It works very well and gives good protection. It’s easy to pack when you go away and keeps it shape. The only negative is head venting, I found it a bit sweaty around the head and therefore probably needs better venting system.

    Thanks for the feedback - we really appreciate it. For some context, it's extremely important to us that our hat carries the BS 8466 kitemark. This allows us to officially say the product is a "sun hat" and that it protects your head from solar radiation. These are EU and Australian standards when it comes to sun protection and headwear. There are very strict guidelines on the dimensions of the brim and any holes. Large holes in the hat would mean UV rays can get through to your head. For example, a standard cap would fail the test because the brim doesn't protect your entire head and the ventilation holes are too large. We tried to address overheating with a sweatband around the perimeter and by using the largest ventilation holes permitted. Hopefully, this reassures you and explains the situation a little.     The wise brim is effective at keeping sun off the face and neck and prevented me burning on a 6 day trekking expedition.

    Brilliant purchase that works

    I wore the hat all the time whilst in the sun and it provided shade for my face and I didn’t get sunburned. I also loaned it to my husband whilst he was fishing and he liked it so much I very nearly didn’t get it back! A fantastic purchase that works

Our story began with personal setback. We were three healthy young men, who thought we were indestructible. But then, several of our friends – all healthy and in their thirties, like us – were hit by cancer. One of them was Jono, our co-founder.

This inspired us to set-up LifeJacket with the single vision of halting the increase in skin cancer - THE world’s most common cancer and, unlike other cancers, one that’s 90% preventable. In the UK, rates have doubled since the 90s and they’re forecast to double again over the next 20 years.

COMMON QUESTIONS.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to the UK and Channel Islands using a Royal Mail tracked service and internationally using a selection of couriers (DPD, UPS, Fedex).

When will I get my order?

We try to get every order out the same day up until 4pm during the week. From then, please allow 2-3 business days for your order to arrive (UK) or up to 14 working days for international orders.

Who will be delivering my order and is there tracking?

We use a tracked service for nearly all of our deliveries. You will get an email from us when your order has been despatched which will include the tracking details.

What if I'm not in when my order is delivered?

The majority of our products fit through the average letter box. In the event your order doesn't, Royal Mail will leave a card letting you know they tried to deliver and what the next step is (either your order was left in a safe place or it has been returned to your local sorting office where it can either be collected, or a redelivery booked).

I haven't received my order yet, what should I do?

If 3 business days have passed since you placed your order and you still haven't received it, give us a shout and we will get it resolved.

What you mean by UPF sun hat?

A UV sun hat is a hat designed to protect the wearer from harmful UV rays from the sun.

UPF refers to the Ultraviolet Protection Factor which is a  UV rating system that’s used for fabrics, similar to SPF for cosmetics. It indicates how much UV radiation can penetrate the fabric of the hat.

A UPF 50+ hat blocks 98% of the sun's rays, offering very high sun protection.

What makes a good UPF 50+ sun hat?

A good UPF 50+ hat should have a wide brim all the way around the hat and provide very small breath holes. These specific rules and dimensions are prescribed by regulators and testing standards.

The fabric must be made of high-quality materials that block UV rays and be comfortable to wear.

Finally, in our opinion, we believe that the UV protection should not be added to the fabric as a chemical treatment because it will wash off and degrade over time. None of our UPF fabrics are chemically treated meaning that they will provide UPF 50+ protection indefinitely.

Why should I choose a UV protection hat and when should I wear it?

A UV protection hat helps shield your skin from harmful UV rays, reducing your risk of sunburn, heat stroke and skin damage.

You should wear your UV protection hat whenever you're outdoors during daylight hours, even on cloudy days as UV rays can penetrate clouds.

How do your sizes compare to other brands?

We would say our sizing comes up true but because the had is adjustable, we recommend taking a larger size (even if you have measured your head and cross-referenced against our sizing guide). If in any doubt check out the size guide towards the top of the page or give us a shout.

Can I return the product if I don't like it?

The last thing we want is for you to be unhappy with your order and any hard feelings. So providing it is returned to us in good/as new condition, we are happy to issue a full refund.
